DR: I understand the enormity of just getting there 10 times,
especially with the number of horses we have and the type
of horse we start out with every year. So I understand what
an accomplishment it is just to show up. We've had two thirds,
a fourth, a fifth. To win one would just be over the top. When
you lose, you feel bad after the race, but after a day or two
nobody's feeling bad for you and you remember it's an
accomplishment to make it to the Derby and you move
on to the next thing. But I sure would like to think there's
one out there with my name on it.
TDN: You are 0 for 10 in the Derby. All trainers want to win the race,
especially ones who grew up in Louisville. Does winning the Derby
keep you up at night?
I sure would like to think
there's one out there
with my name on it.
