The Summit is not a new concept, but
rather a concept new to Lexington. Bayer
Properties first introduced The Summit
in Birmingham, Alabama, twenty years
ago. Situated along the foothills of the
Appalachian Mountains, the mixed-use
space features higher-end retail brands
and restaurants that had traditionally
not been available in the area combined
with a state-of-the-art movie theater, lo-
cal boutiques with a modern twist, and
more, all in a contemporary, walkable en-
vironment that invites visitors to mean-
der about and explore the space.
"That original site is literally on a
mountain with about 150 feet of eleva-
tion change surrounding it, which lent it-
self to the name," said Lassiter. "It has
become pretty famous nationally in the
retail industry and we have since built
three others, making sure the design, re-
tail options, and other details are signa-
ture to each city."
