BEAK-A-BOO
The cassowary is the third
largest bird in the world (they're
a bit smaller than the ostrich and
the emu) and have bright blue and
red necks and black feathers.
Their ancestors are dinosaurs,
and they have a helmet-like
crest on top of their head
called a casque which protects
their head in a fight, and really
sharp claws on the inner toe
of each foot. In fact, their
three-toed feet are just like
that of the theropod dinosaur.
They're usually very shy animals,
but if they feel threatened, they
can aack, so best to stay clear
if you see one, just like you would
if you saw a dinosaur.
Thankfully, they only eat fruit
so you don't have to worry
about geing eaten!
