A lesson learned from the recent partial government shutdown: Bad things happen to good people. Due to no fault of their own, federal workers faced 35 days without pay. Unexpectedly missing paychecks can be a scary scenario for anyone. at's especially true if you don't have emergency savings. A Bankrate® survey from June 2018 showed that about 71% of adults didn't have six months of emergency savings – the amount experts recommend. Meanwhile, another recent Bankrate survey found that only 40% of Americans could cover an unexpected $1,000 expense with their savings. More than one-third of those surveyed said they would rather borrow money. To address these savings shortfalls, Redstone introduced the Brighter Day Savings account. Members earn an unprecedented Annual Percentage Yield (APY) of 5.09% through June 30, 2019, on balances up to $2,500. After that date, Brighter Day Savings will continue to offer a "premier'' savings rate. Anticipate a tax refund? Consider using it to build your emergency fund so that it is ready when bad things happen. Open your Brighter Day Savings account today online or at any branch. r e d f c u.o r g | 3 Brighter Day Account EARN UP TO 5.09% APY * WITH A * Only one Brighter Day Savings Account is allowed per member.
