She has been featured in Western Art Collector, Southwest Art, Lifestyles, and her portrait of a tiger graces the back cover of a book on the excellence in drawing. Her awarding-winning work has been selected for prestigious shows in Montana, Texas, Louisiana, Wyoming and Arizona. She is a member of the Society of Animal Artists and the International Society of Scratchboard Artists. Scratchboard began as an experiment and mind reversal from pen and ink. Janice readily admits she is addicted to the medium. Her animal portraits are stunning and full of dramatic lighting and expression. This is her second year participating in Art Week. Check out her latest masterpieces at the Jay Contway and Friends Show at the Hilton Garden Inn. Janice lives on the Continental Divide in southwest Montana. www.JaniceGBogy.com exquisite pottery to the intricate carving detail of sculptor and knife maker, Lance DuBois. Great Falls artist Scott Enloe, well known for his beautifully handcrafted canoes and furniture, returns for his seventeenth year. Enloe recalls his humble beginnings with Jay and Lynn. "I admired the Contway Show for years and after finishing a cedar strip canoe, I took a leap of faith and called Lynn," says Enloe. The Contway's recognized Enloe's talent and immediately extended an invitation. "I remember taking the booth at the entrance, the one no one else wanted and putting up a table with a table cloth, a sign and my canoe... after all these years and my furniture in homes and businesses from coast to coast, I'm still at the Contway' s entrance and loving every minute," adds Enloe. Linda Short, another repeat favorite, is a multi-talented artist who works in a wide variety of mediums. "Finding scratchboard, was like putting the last piece in the puzzle –all the artistic challenges and endeavors came together," says Short. Growing up on a third-generation ranch, Short garnered an astute awareness for wildlife. "The best of days are spent with beautiful music, sun beaming in and my latest challenge in front of me –in my mind's eye, it is all done," claims Short. "I'm often amazed that through a very tiny scratch, a million times over, emerges the piece –fur so soft you want to touch it's softness," adds Short. Her work expresses her reverence for animals as powerful stunning creatures. Short is best known for her large works – most of which depict the magnificent beauty of the horse. The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation recently selected Linda Short as its 2019 national artist featuring one of her latest works, "Challenge Accepted". Her work is also featured on the cover of this publication. Wendy Marquis is new to the show, but not to The Russell where her work was auctioned off during the First Strike event. Marquis is known for her contemporary interpretation of landscapes, farm and ranch animals, barns and other iconic symbols of the West, but perhaps most notably for her old pickup trucks. "There is a special American story behind each one of those tailgates that I paint," Marquis says. While you are out and about during Western Art Week, be sure to put the Jay Contway and Friends Art Show at the top of your list. All of the artists will be onsite offering a great opportunity to visit, and admission is free. "Maintaining the Wilderness" Wendy Marquis
