Restorative Retreat
This master bath was once outdated and
underutilized, but designer Megan Siasson trans-
formed it into a modestly lavish, spa-like retreat.
The busy homeowners desired a restful
atmosphere designed to fit their active morning
routines, but one that also conveys a sense of
comfort and ease. Without drastic changes to the
existing footprint or taking space from the adjacent
walk-in closet, Siasson gave her clients a space
tailored to their lifestyle.
She replaced the walls and doorway to the toilet
with a tiled pony-wall and sandblasted glass
partition to offer partial privacy, widened the west-
facing window to take advantage of the view, and
combined the showering and bathing areas into
one open wet room.
Minor structural changes answer the request for
zero barriers and allow for more natural light. To
address the need for better storage, Siasson took
an elongated and underutilized vanity wall and
broke it up with a linen cabinet, a makeup station,
and custom vanities that accommodate the tall
homeowners. Recessed medicine chests that
serve as vanity mirrors feature custom wooden
shelves for everyday toiletries. The wooden shelves
continue up the wall by the freestanding tub to
display plants and other accoutrements. —N.F.M.
