A Skill Point Certificate is awarded to any student who
competes in the MART National Contest and records a cut score
of 750 points or above. The cut score is defined by the MART
National Technical Committee. The Skill Point Certificate was
awarded to 7 of the 13 students who competed. The certificate
gives the students a prestigious element to add to their resumes
as they enter the appliance repair workforce.
Top student winners received gold, silver and bronze
medallions. Many also received prizes such as tools of their
trade and/or scholarships to further their careers and education.
The SkillsUSA Championships is for high school and college-
level students who are members of SkillsUSA.
All contests are run with the help of industry, trade associations
and suppliers, and test competencies are set according to
industry. The members of the MART National Technical
Committee who operate and are the heartbeat of the MART
National Contest are the hardest working, most dedicated and
extremely generous people in the appliance repair industry. They
supply products, prizes, meals, scholarships and the man/
woman power to run the contest.
