GREAT WHITE SHARK

"Andre from South Africa is one of my best
friends and an extraordinary shark handler. We
decided to dive outside a shark cage with Great
Whites off Dyer Island—known as the Great
White Capital—in 1993. This was my first time
out of the cage and I now prefer it.
"We were on each side of the cage and people
on the surface were baiting the shark. It star ted
circling over our heads but wasn't interested in
us at all, not even curious. As we rose up, Andre
put out his hand. A moment later, he reached up
and touched the shark's belly."
