Taylor represents LG Electronics on the Board of Directors of the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers and on the AHAM Major Appliance and Floor Care division boards. In April 2018, he was elected Chairman of the AHAM Board of Directors. Formerly he chaired the AHAM Major Appliance Division Government Relations Council for seven years. He also previously served as AHAM Vice Chairman, Treasurer and Chairman of the Finance Committee. Recognizing his appliance industry leadership, Taylor received the AHAM Distinguished Service Award in 2015. Active in the Consumer Technology Association since the early 1980s, Taylor is currently Chairman of the CTA Video Division Board and a member of the CTA Board of Industry Leaders. He is a long-time member of the CTA Government Affairs Council, the judging committee for the Consumer Technology Hall of Fame, and serves on the editorial advisory board for CTA's i3 magazine. He is a charter member of CTA's Academy of Digital TV Pioneers and earned its highest honor, the Industry Leadership Award. He was inducted into the Dealerscope Hall of Fame, in recognition of his industry role as "The Dean of UHD." A key player in digital television since 1988, Taylor currently serves as Communications Chairman of the Advanced Television Systems Committee (the industry group developing next-generation TV standards), where he also served two terms on the Board of Directors. He leads LG's inter-industry collaborations with the National Association of Broadcasters, America's Public Television Stations and other organizations. He also is a founding member of the Steering Committee of the AWARN Alliance and serves on the boards of trustees of The Media Institute and the Library of American Broadcasting Foundation. Taylor co-founded and was a driving force behind the Digital TV Transition Coalition in the 2000s and was Public Affairs Chairman of the Digital HDTV Grand Alliance in the 1990s. He was a founder and former Chairman of the now-defunct Plasma Display Coalition, and also formerly served on the boards of directors of the ATSC International Forum, the Museum of Broadcast Communications and the Better Business Bureau. To help position LG as a public policy and technology leader in Washington, Taylor has testified on technology policy matters before congressional committees and was appointed by a past Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission to serve on the FCC's accessibility advisory committee. Involved in international trade matters for decades, he also has been actively engaged for many years with the FCC, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Department of Energy and other government agencies.
