SECOND PLACE / LARGE TRADITIONAL KITCHEN
This kitchen exudes southern hospitality with
timeless materials, functional storage, and thoughtful
details. Stained European white oak floors, tailored
trims, beadboard ceiling detail, and rustic lanterns
create a sophisticated foundation for this inviting
kitchen. Each side of the large central island offers
cabinets to house everything from daily necessities
to seasonal items that are enjoyed once a year. The
sleek pro-style refrigerator and range are offset by a
hammered copper farmhouse sink, copper vent
hood, a softly patterned tile backsplash, and hearty
quartzite countertops paired with striking blue
cabinetry for a sense of genuine, easy living.
In the pantry, a reclaimed antique piece became
the focal point. This piece was transformed with a
fresh coat of colorful paint, new wire door inserts,
and brass hardware, and was mounted on the wall
above tall base cabinets, creating a central storage
piece. Adjacent custom cabinetry offers plenty of
open shelving for pantry essentials and houses a
hammered copper sink, two dishwasher drawers, a
wall oven, and darling retro-style refrigerator. A
grasscloth-inspired vinyl wallcovering adorns the
pantry walls, protecting them from wear and tear
while adding texture and visual interest.
