is holiday season may be unlike one we have ever seen. e nation remains in the midst of a pandemic, and most of us personally know someone affected by the virus. Some of our friends and neighbors are facing financial hardships caused by this virus. Even with social distancing, holidays are a time to celebrate the season, share with others, and stay connected. A few months ago, I began going through my Rolodex (list of contacts, for my younger readers). I looked for people whom I used to see or talk to regularly before the pandemic quarantined us. Some were people I saw at community events or those I regularly talked to while doing life, such as going to the gym or shopping. I just wanted to call and say hello. One person I talked with couldn't believe that I wasn't calling to set up a meeting or something business related. I shared that I was simply calling to check on friends and their families during this time. I'm finding other ways to stay connected during these holidays because it's good for me – and for those I reach out to. As humans, we need one another. ere are hundreds of small things we can do to show we care and stay true to the meaning of this season. Here are a few: • Some neighborhoods create Secret Santa teams that exchange gifts by leaving them on their neighbors' porches. At a specific date and time, there is a socially distant unveiling. • Zoom Parties, complete with delicious treats and music, can be fun. • Some charities are really hurting right now. Call your favorite charity to see how you can support them. What are some of the things you are doing this season to stay connected?
