SiG MT 37 SiG MT 41 "It is fun to run around with them and get competitive," Fr. Lenneman said describing practicing or playing pickup basketball with the basketball teams or the football players. No one on campus underestimates the wiry priest, who is known for both his shooting prowess and his competitive nature. Fr. Lenneman told a story of geing ready for a run up "the mountain" at Legendary Lodge, the church camp where athletes sometimes have retreats. On this particular day, the men's soccer team was geing ready for the run with Fr. Lenneman and a player said, "We are going to run up that? at's hard." Fr. Lenneman agreed, and pointed out, "It is hard. at's exactly why we're doing it. Hard stuff doesn't get easier. You just get beer at doing hard stuff." He went on to explain that challenges and difficulties were going to come during the season and this was preparation for those times. It is the kind of lesson that Fr. Lenneman sees everywhere in athletics. "I am an old athlete and coach," Fr. Lenneman said, "And for me being around athletics is just living life. It's a normal part of my existence." at natural approach has led to connections with hundreds of Carroll athletes over the years. "Done correctly, athletics creates a context for profound relationships between people. Spending time together pursuing a common goal can open into some really great friendships and life-changing moments." He noted that those special moments happen as they work out, spend time together on buses and team projects, and journey together throughout the season. Father Lenneman served as College Chaplain and Director of Campus Ministry during the construction of All Saints Chapel which opened in 2017. The center hub of campus spiritual life, it is hard to imagine now that this space once housed a gymnasium. It is a fitting home for Father Lenneman who leads Mass weekly on the campus. Father Lenneman will take any opportunity to work with students, and to work out.
