SiG MT SiG MT 42 "I like the discipline of athletics, the striving for excellence, and the team aspect," Fr. Lenneman commented. "On good teams there is always willingness to sacrifice. It's analogous to the spiritual life in many ways." Father Lenneman immediately connects this idea with last season's Carroll College Saints men's basketball team. He notes how they had to set aside their egos and buy into what head men's basketball coach Kurt Paulson was doing. "Coach Paulson got them to believe in something bigger than themselves." While that was just one team, Fr. Lenneman has seen it happen in athletics time and time again. e lesson he draws is, "e coach sets the vision and when individuals buy in and sacrifice then greatness can come." Along the way there have been many highlights, including in 2010 when Fr. Lenneman had the opportunity to go to Rome, Georgia, with his father to watch the Saints win a national championship in football. More recently, he was with the men's basketball team when they reached the NAIA national championship game. "To see teams do it right and then be rewarded with visible success is always extra satisfying." Before becoming a priest, Fr. Lenneman was a high school teacher and he noted how much he enjoys watching the coaches at Carroll work their cra, including women's basketball coach Rachelle Sayers and volleyball coach Maureen (Mo) Boyle. "I love watching Rachelle and Mo coach. ey are both fiery and intense on the sideline," he said. "But I really love watching them teach in practice. All our coaches are passionate teachers. Working out daily is part of Father Lenneman's routine, and it gives him the chance to build relationships and interact with students, faculty, and staff across the campus. Father Lenneman honed his game at Billings Central High School where he was a stand out athlete.
