INDUSTRY NEWS Achema 2021 postponed, organizers plan interim virtual event in June 2021 Achema 2021, an event that caters to chemists, engineers, and process technicians, has been postponed to April 4-8, 2022, due to the coronavi- rus pandemic. In light of the delay, Achema organizers will host an event called Achema Pulse on June 15-16, 2021. DECHEMA Ausstellungs GmbH is the organizer of the event and is a professional society for chemical engineering and biotech- nology in Germany. Instead of an Bühler expands service center locations through acquisition of Design Corrugating Bühler North America, Minne- apolis, MN, has acquired Design Corrugating Companies, a roller mill and other equipment service company based in Taylorville, IL. Design Corrugating has additional locations in Oakdale, CA; Wichita, KS; and Chattanooga, TN. All of the Design Corrugating locations will become new customer service cen- ter sites for Bühler, and the entire staff will join the Bühler team. Existing operations will continue at the new operation sites using the pickup, repair, and delivery ser- vice model. Bühler will continue to provide parts and services for all makes and models of roller mills, and the company also plans to add equipment investments to expand on offered services in the future. Bühler is a process equipment manufacturer, particularly for the food industry. The recent acquisi- tion of Design Corrugating follows the company's investment in the Food Application Center in Min- in-person trade fair, the 2021 event will be held via an online interac- tive platform to allow attendees to see and discuss the latest industry trends while connecting with like- minded people. The event will also focus on sustainability, and winners of the rst Achema Innovation Chal- lenge will present their solutions to the global community. Winners were selected from students, compa- nies, or startups that have developed solutions to questions that are cur- rently concerning many companies. Organizers of the postponed event cited uncertainty caused by the pandemic and also feedback from intensive discussions with the community and within the Achema Committee. The event typically attracts around 150,000 attend- ees from around 150 countries to Frankfurt am Main, Germany. The organizers hope that a delay will allow them to organize an opportu- nity to create a diverse, lively, and multisensory event that includes an exhibition and the opportu- nity for personal contact.
