MARCH 2021 RETAILOBSERVER.COM 39 This apartment was built approximately ten years ago and the homeowner wanted a brighter, modern and more functional space. The dark brown cabinets were replaced and run all the way up to the ceiling in order to create a clean, airy and modern feeling with White Cape Elm finish. The tilt-out range hood by Faber is exceptionally quiet and powerful and the Picasso gold finish creates a focal point in the room. We also ran the same gold finish on all baseboards, under all upper cabinets and as a decorative stripe under both display cabinets to tie the whole room together. The cooking zone, which is on one wall, features a beautiful Thermador induction stove top and integrated Thermador fridge and freezer on the opposite wall. There is a beautiful heavy-duty double sink with a stunning Aqua brass faucet with a matching built-in soap dispenser and a Thermador built-in dishwasher. The countertop is a matte quartz with Calacatta veining that allows intense cooking without any hesitation. In order to maximize travel of light throughout the space and make the space airier and brighter, we maximized distance between the countertop and upper cabinets (24.5" space) and continued the same quartz material on the backsplash. We also eliminated all of the outlets from the walls and moved them under the upper cabinets, in order to keep the veining on the slab uninterrupted. Admirable in Altamont — The challenge was to add all the outdoor living luxuries that the client wanted, while still having it look consistent and harmonious with the home's heritage architecture. The casual seating area would be used the same way an interior living room would be used. For this exterior renovation, we added significantly more patio space by reducing the width and increasing the length of the pool. We also added an infinity edge which accented the exceptional view of the ocean. This change in size also allowed for the pool to be centered on the kitchen window, making its new location purposeful and providing the idea that this was its originally intended location. Now when looking out from the sink area in the kitchen, one can see directly down the center of the pool over its infinity edge to the view beyond.
