Connect with us: when it comes to connecting students to future opportunities each Higher Montana is a statewide organization headquartered in Helena, and has an experienced, knowledgeable, and friendly team of outreach advisors working throughout Montana to support students. With professional experience in college admissions, school counseling, vocational education, workforce development, and school administration, Reach Higher Montana's outreach team is a tremendous resource for students, parents, and educators throughout the state. This team provides classroom workshops on scholarships, college search and selection, career exploration and planning, and so much more. Regardless of the path chosen after high school, continuing one's education can be a big financial investment. To help ease the burden of paying for additional education, Reach Higher Montana funds its own scholarship program – the Reach Higher Montana Scholarship – which will award 80 scholarships of $1,000 each to Montana students this year. 30 awards are made to graduating high school seniors, and the remaining 50 scholarships are awarded to students who are continuing their postsecondary education in Montana. Reach Higher Montana works with a number of other scholarship providers, and promotes scholarships for Montana students on its Facebook and Instragram pages every Thursday. Know a youth in the foster care system? Reach Higher Montana has access to funds dedicated to helping these students continue their education. Recently, through the financial and programmatic support from the Partnership to Advance Youth Apprenticeship, Reach Higher Montana has been working with the Montana Youth Apprenticeship Partnership to offer students apprenticeship opportunities starting in high school. The first youth apprentices were hired last spring in Billings, and are working in paid health care positions while pursuing their education in the nursing field. Youth apprenticeship opportunities are currently being developed in information technology and accounting. These programs eliminate the need to choose between working or going to school and are a tried and true workforce development strategy for businesses to grow their own workers.
