MAY 2021 RETAILOBSERVER.COM 35 High Style With Ease — This client challenged our design team to convert this two-story family home to a suburban penthouse, and we proved that luxury could be executed in an unusual environment with a restricted architectural footprint. As the client favored an urban style, we created a comfortable living environment and injected the DNA of his city lifestyle. This bath space is marked with his thumbprint, which was blown up as hand-painted art on the wall as you pass by from the public space, drawing the occupants into it. Challenges: Limited color palette (only black, grey, white, and blue); no structural changes to space; minimal construction changes; move toilet and sink to new locations working with existing floors and walls; provide privacy for occupants but stay connected to public spaces. Solutions: Powerful contrasting tones used to offset the desired color palette; a secondary ceiling installed in the bath area to provide room for the new lighting features; a wall mounted toilet and in-wall flushing mechanism provides a sleeker and yet interesting design element. Small Hallway Bathroom — Objectives: The client needed a fresh new look for the bathroom; to brighten up the space; to make efficient use of the available space; to add value to the home; and create a design to reflect client's personality. Design Challenges: The space was narrow, long, and high; there was no natural light; insufficient amount of light in the bathroom. Design Solutions: Installed new larger shower enclosure along the entire back wall; by using the right proportions of the shower enclosure and the vanity we balanced out the space; we tied together and harmonized the overall feel by installing asymmetrical specialty wall sconces; side wall tiles were selected and placed in such a way to reflect the available light; we installed a brand new set of accent tiles on the back wall in the shower to provide a perception of width and to create contrast and interest (the tiles look stylish and the client liked their appearance very much); installed brand new set of modern LED sconces and can lights, a new stylish chandelier was installed to balance vaulted ceiling. Special Features: Wall sconces with adjustable position; mosaic floor throughout for the safety use of the bathroom.
