CMU Today Get that snitch! Quidditch isn't just for wizards and witches anymore – college students also are in the game. CMU's Quidditch team, the Central Centaurs, is one of 1,000 teams across the U.S. The Centaurs recently competed in the Intercollegiate Quidditch Association World Cup in Kissimmee, Fla., finishing the tournament with a 3-2 record. "Quidditch [in J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter" series] is basically the wizard equivalent to soccer," says Dave Wilber, a sports studies senior from Battle Creek. "They fly around on brooms, trying to score the 'quaffle' through three hoops. We play very similar to that, without the flying. The game doesn't end until the 'seeker' catches the 'snitch.'" • Hail to the salesmen Two CMU professional sales students made history this year when they became the first two students from one school to earn first and second place in the Pi Sigma Epsilon National Sales Competition. The competition was tough for Mark Gustin, the senior from Greenville who claimed first place, and Adam London, a junior from Ann Arbor who took second. They went briefcase-to-briefcase with more than 450 students from 65 universities in San Diego, taking an intensive exam and role-playing sales scenarios.
