JULY 2021 RETAILOBSERVER.COM 39 RO G R E E N — E N T I R E H O U S E / A D D I T I O N P R O J E C T TZ OF MADISON, INC. MADISON, WISCONSIN This project consisted of remodeling a small tri- level lake home, built in 1942. The homeowners had dreamed of a light-filled retreat that would take advantage of the lake views and be as green as possible in its creation. The project took "reduce, reuse, recycle" to a new level with much of the home's original elements being set aside and repurposed in new, inventive ways. The home was expanded with the addition of two bathrooms, a master bedroom suite with walk-out lakeside decks, a yoga room, an open-concept living room and kitchen on ground level, and a new, detached three-car garage with heated workshop. U N I V E R S A L D E S I G N — B AT H NEXT STAGE DESIGN + BUILD SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA The master bath in this penthouse needed a universal design update to accommodate a homeowner with limited mobility. The goal was to create a luxurious, obstacle-free space for the homeowner to easily navigate with access to basic bathroom functions. Because of the home's twenty- second floor location, all changes had to remain within the existing footprint and plumbing locations could not change. The tub space was converted into a curbless walk-in shower with quartzite shower walls, a built-in bench, hand-held shower, and easy-reach grab bars. The custom walnut vanity includes one set of doors that fully retract, providing full access to the vanity sink, and gold-tone faucet fixtures with touchless technology.
