SiG MT 42 Lanie White holds a degree in geology from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, and a Master's in Geological Engineering from Montana Tech in Bue, Montana. Working in various segments of the energy industry for a number of years, she believes that time away from agriculture has provided a new perspective to the possibilities for their ranch. e name, Great Alone Cale Company, is dedicated to White's grandmother, who grew up on the ranch and worked in Yellowstone Park, where she met her husband, Pete White. "My grandparents moved to the ranch during the Dirty 30s, when the ranch was in trouble. I think she planned a glamorous city life full of opera, art, and swanky cocktail parties. Instead, they returned to the ranch and put in fiy years of hard work to make the ranch work. My grandmother coined the term 'the great alone' in reference to the ranch. To me, 'the great alone' embodies the thin line between alone and lonely and the line between nature's striking beauty and life's harsh realities in the wildness," said White. e cale company now sells premium, all-natural beef products by utilizing the whole carcass in the grind to produce hamburger. is gives the burger more flavor and body than the traditional method of grinding trim. By producing a high-quality and consistent hamburger product, White has been able to secure a relationship with a large distribution company. e name, Great Alone Cale Company, is dedicated to White's grandmother who grew up on the ranch and worked in Yellowstone Park where she met her husband, Pete White.
