220 ELR133 120 Clock Hours Conduit, Raceways, and Termination in Electrical Systems Course covers termination and the implementation of electricity in a facility. Considers topics related to box capacities, raceways, conduit sizes, termination practices, wire trays, and finish wiring. Prerequisites: None. ELR234 81 Clock Hours Electric Power Distribution Course covers the theory and applications of distribution of power f rom utilities to residential and commercial sites, including transformers and commercial electrical distribution equipment and services. Also includes safety, codes, and interpretation of construction drawings and specifications. Prerequisites: None. ELR235 120 Clock Hours Motors: Theory and Application Course covers motor and motor controls in electricity. Explains how to select and install relays and troubleshoot control circuits. Distinctions between alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) motors, motor speed control, design and operation characteristics, and connections and terminal markings. Prerequisites: None. ELR236 81 Clock Hours Industrial Wiring Applications Course covers a broad variety of electrical wiring applications, including healthcare facility, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), standby, emergency, and fire alarm systems. Prerequisites: None. (EMC) EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY EMC101 6 Clock Hours CPR/Basic Cardiac Life Support Designed to train students in the skills of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to include mouth- to-mouth, mouth-to-mask, cardiac compression, stabilization of adult, infant, and child victims with airway obstruction, respiratory, and cardiac arrest. 1) To receive a course completion card, students in the basic life support (BLS) course must pass both the skills and written exams; 2) In order to continue on in the EMT program, students must pass both the practical skills test and cognitive exam to American Heart Association (AHA) standards. Prerequisites: Admission into the Emergency Medical Technology program. Successful completion of RDG100 or higher or appropriate reading placement into CRE101. EMC102 40 Clock Hours Emergency Medical Responder A comprehensive course to train a lay person to provide care for patients suffering sudden illness or injury. For members of law enforcement agencies, industry, and the private sector. Prerequisites: EMC101 or with Program Manager approval. EMC104 174 Clock Hours Basic Emergency Medical Technology Designed as the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) lecture and lab to prepare students for scope of practice and standard of care with comprehensive assessment, diagnostic technology, patient advocacy, ethical and professional behaviors, critical thinking, decision-making, and patient management of medical and trauma emergencies and non-emergencies. Scenario-based learning applied to the techniques of emergency medical care is in accordance with national and state curriculum. Students will participate in the simulated EMT practicum on campus, which demonstrates the skills, knowledge, and abilities learned in the lecture and lab.
