10 I ICT TODAY AV Reminders for Healthy Meeting Etiquette Until it becomes engrained in peoples' behavior, it is necessary to provide reminders of policies for conducting safe in-person meetings. AV systems contain features to make sure attendees get the message the moment they enter the room. An occupancy sensor triggers the AV system to turn on the display when the first person enters the meeting room. The AV control processor puts up a pre-programmed screen saver on the presentation display showing the health and safety guidelines set for that room. This includes maximum room occupancy and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines for social distancing, hand washing, and use of a hand sanitizer. The display can also provide directions to sani- tize frequently touched surfaces, such as tabletops, armrests, key- boards, and cable connection ports. When the meeting begins, the screen saver is automatically replaced by content from the first device to supply an active AV signal. If all active AV signals are removed, the display reverts to the health and safety screen saver after a short, settable delay. After the last person leaves the room, the occupancy sensor triggers AV system shut- down (Figure 3). If the room includes pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras that allow remote attendees to see who is talking, a ceiling array microphone (mic) determines the direction of the speaker's voice. AUTOMATIC CAMER A CONTROL The sound levels provided by the array mic are parsed by the AV system's digital matrix proces- sor into directional data that the control processor uses to point the PTZ camera at the person who is speaking. There is no need for anyone at the conference table to press a button to take the floor (Figure 4).
