rt enthusiasts can stroll through a unique catalog of art during the
Western Heritage Artists Footprints on the Trail Show and Sale.
"It's the only show in town that has a lobby show," says Shelly McClellan,
show chair. "e panels are what's fun. You can see a sample of what each
artist has to offer, a sideboard with information on the artist and where they
are located within the show."
e Footprints on the Trail Art Show and Sale is the longest-running
continuous show of Western Art Week, celebrating 41 years of western
artwork this year.
"At first, we had to drag folks in from the street to help make a decent-sized
show for the lobby," Bev Teitjen, show founder, reminisced on the show Web
site. "e hotel (formerly the Sheraton) allowed us to rush home to "create"
the food for our first reception, and my husband, Richard, playfully filled the
bathtubs with champagne."
Aer the second year, the Western Heritage Artists Association board was
created, and rules and bylaws were adopted.
"No dealers' was our first decision, which meant we'd have to work harder,"
Teitjen writes. "e artists, with the thankful help of many selfless volunteers,
produced the show."
