MAY 2022 RETAILOBSERVER.COM 35 Traditional Master Bath The design evolved to encourage self-care and wellness in a luxurious ambience upon waking up or before retiring at night. Instead of an alcove, a custom panelled surround was built tight around the framing for an oval under-mount tub. The marble deck and overhang were also intentionally fabricated 7" wide to help relieve the tight space. The oval tub was specified with thermal air and built-in speaker on ceiling, a perfect combination for a relaxing bathing experience. Beverly faucet and shower fixtures from Watermark were selected – the faceted body and crystal knobs in polished nickel are quite impressive. Bespoke cabinetry with tapered legs, flat pilaster and a beaded opening painted in a creamy white is timeless. There is ample storage on both sink cabinets and makeup vanity. The tub and shower share the same centerline, allowing the stone pattern design to emerge. The light fixture was placed at the center of the round water- jet slab. The height was shortened to ensure that the shower doors opened freely. Everything had to be symmetrical and in its right place. Mirrored walls were added to bring an illusion of an even larger space and function as a full-length mirror. Sconces and ceiling light fixture have vertical ribbed glass to evoke a modern feeling and a hint of Hollywood glamor. Punky Bluester The previous vanity cabinet location is where a brilliant blue freestanding claw-foot tub now sits. A separate wall was framed to form a corner space around the tub which received LED backlighting and a specialty wallpaper. The wallpaper consists of a cityscape photograph of London flipped around like a kaleidoscope to form amazing patterns. The blue from the wallpaper was the guide for the RAL blue color on the Victoria and Albert tub exterior. The funky industrial style conduit starburst chandelier above the Victorian shaped tub makes for a true Steampunk design statement. For the concrete trough double sink vanity, I designed a custom hand-forged steel base to fit underneath the wall-mounted vanity top to add a lower storage shelf as well as a fun design twist. A Robern uplift illuminated medicine cabinet mounted above the sink provided additional toiletry storage, a charging station and a crisp light source. The faucet handle trims were custom powder-coated in the same RAL blue to match the tub. The shower features a blue glazed brick tile from Ann Sacks laid in a herringbone pattern. The California Faucets rain shower head, handheld body sprayer, and decorative grid drain are in a gunmetal finish to amplify the industrial vibe. The water closet pocket door resembles an airplane metal patchwork design.
