A historic 1940s home was converted into a
group home for functioning adults with
developmental disabilities and their caretakers.
The modern facelift includes a 60-foot
accessible ramp, whole-house sprinkler
system, front porch, screened back porch, a
wheelchair-accessible bathroom and kitchen,
with energy-efficient components including a
tank-less water heater. Hallways and entryways
were widened without compromising
surrounding spaces, and rooms were creatively
converted to add three bedrooms and an extra
bath. Accessibility was a key component, and
the practicality and comfort in this home now
make it truly one of a kind.

carriage house, which was custom built to fit

lanterns, a mix of board-and-batten and shake-
style siding, larger cedar timber accents, and

house. Creamy whites, warm woods and
