The AV over IP network configuration appliance
provides an intuitive graphical web interface for estab-
lishing AV routing through the enterprise network
switches, configuring encoder and decoder endpoints,
AV over IP system monitoring, backup/restoration, and
troubleshooting during initial setup and for ongoing
operations. For all of these functions, the configuration
appliance interfaces with the AV over IP encoders and
decoders via secure communication. Once paired
through the configuration process, the primary and
secondary AV stands become "smart" because they
recognize one another over the network. See figure 5
that shows the endpoint discovery pane via the AV over
IP graphical web interface.
Primary AV Stand System
The primary AV stand contains a 4K HDMI switcher
that selects program content from any of the following
HDMI sources contained in the stand: a PC, an Apple TV,
or a Miracast wireless display adapter receiver unit.

An external HDMI source can also be connected via
a cable and selected by the switcher. A Windows-based
PC is installed in the primary stand because the university
is standardized on Windows PCs. The Apple TV receives
program content over the university's network via Wi-Fi.
