SECOND PLACE / PRIMARY BATH
Treetop Oasis
The design goal for this luxurious primary
bathroom was to create an everlasting
oasis that the client could use with ease,
and refresh and unwind in. We accentuated
the existing skylight with the addition of
floor-to-ceiling wall tile and a large matte-
black limestone soaker tub below.
The addition of a built-in shower bench
and ADA grab bar in the shower area
helped with ease of use. Wall-wash lights
accentuate the floor and wall tile with
pops of beige, blues, and reds. Because
additional storage was needed, we added
full-height cabinets with custom shelves
for toiletries and a floating vanity for ease
of cleaning.
The addition of a two-sided fireplace
with grey-tinted glass panels on either side
connected the ensuite to the primary
bedroom. The challenge was to configure
enough space for the large tub, vanity,
shower area, and water closet. We needed
to consider the layout for two users to use
the bathroom at the same time. The
solution was a fluted glass panel at the
vanity, enclosed with black steel framing
and double mirrors. The fluted glass
created privacy for the shower area behind,
while still allowing the bright light to
seep through. Many unique elements such
as the black soaker tub, two-sided
fireplace, custom fluted glass panels, and
ambient lighting allowed for the perfect
oasis retreat.
