We sense a great urgency to fulfill this critical mission as we watch our nation continue a moral free-fall. rough multi-leveled ap- proaches that are proving successful, this year CapMin has intensified our efforts to partner with local churches to raise up additional LGM ministry leaders. To facilitate U.S. expansion, seven regional directors were named to work with Dr. Dan DeShong, LGM global director who oversees LGM in the U.S. and worldwide. At a meeting this year, the directors devised short- and long-term plans to recruit and train new LGM ministry leaders. Dr. Dan and two members of his team—Torrey Lewis and Keith Hill—participated in the "Not Ashamed of Christ" conference for independent Baptist pastors on Sept. 18–21 in Lancaster, California. e men explained the CapMin mission and distributed in-depth Bible studies written for public servants, and other ministry material. Nearly three dozen pastors committed to lead ministries to local pub- lic servants, recruit a ministry leader from their church, or requested more information about the ministry. e national advertising recruiting campaign has continued this year. e effort is being spearheaded by distinguished statesman Rick Perry, who has served as U.S. Secretary of Energy and Texas governor. Advertisements have been placed in national magazines in which Sec. Perry asks, "With our nation in turmoil, why are our political leaders the most neglected mission field in America today?" e advertise- ments have drawn great interest. Several men have been accepted as new ministry leaders and CapMin is in the process of vetting dozens more. Efforts to reach local leaders in foreign nations also took a large leap through the efforts of Ralph and Danielle, CapMin global direc- tors, and national ministry leaders who have strong relationships with pastors and political public servants. rough these contacts, Capitol Ministries has recruited biblically reliant Bible teachers to launch lo- cal government ministries in provinces and communities in dozens of foreign nations. We expect great progress in Africa aer this year welcoming Pastor Emmanuel Makolo as our LGM leader for all of Africa. Pastor Makolo learned about CapMin from his good friend Brian Hanson, CapMin's international global director. At first Pastor Emmanuel was considered for the position of ministry leader for his home nation of Kenya. But LGM proved to be an irresistible attraction and he offered to help establish ministries to local leaders among all Africa nations. Pastor Brian describes his friend as being greatly gied in administration and com mitted to evangelism and disci pleship.
