A multimodal manufacturing facility equips an organization with the agility to swiftly adapt to shifting demands and evolving market landscapes. • Supply chain resilience. Having multiple man- ufacturing options in-house can enhance supply chain resilience and minimize potential risks associated with timing, especially for certain autologous cell therapy products. If one manufac- turing process faces disruptions or supply chain challenges, pivoting to another mode ensures a consistent supply of products. • Innovation and product dif ferentiation. A multimodal facility allows for the integration of i n n o v a t i v e m a nu f a c t u r i n g t e c h n i q u e s , which can lead to the development of unique and differentiated products. This can provide a p o t e n t i a l c om p e t i t i v e e d g e a n d a t t r a c t customers seek ing in novat ive products a nd manufacturing capabilities. This facility design approach must focus on the specific facility attributes previously discussed. The following example illustrates a few layout scenarios. Oligo. For an oligo manufacturing area (Figure 2), a key concern as mentioned is the use of solvents. This points to a layout where key equipment will be placed FIGURE . Illustration shows general oligonucleotide layout. MFG is manufacturing. mRNA is messenger RNA. LNP is lipid nanoparticle. CNC/NC is controlled non- classified/non-classified.
