The sun shines brightly on a picture-perfect day in early June
as John Sowell skillfully maneuvers his boat down the launch
ramp at Holter Lake. A seasoned navigator of the Northwest's
lakes and rivers, John might seem an unlikely fishing boat
captain at first glance. Surprisingly, he hasn't cast a line for
himself in over a decade and isn't particularly fond of
eating fish. Yet, his commitment to the sport is unwavering,
leading between 50 to 70 fishing trips each year.
