MARCH 2025 RETAILOBSERVER.COM 9 FIRST PLACE / SMALL KITCHEN UNDER 300 SQ. FT. Thu Trinh Thu Trinh Interiors, Richardson, TX Photo: Michael Hunter of Michael Hunter Photography Breckinridge Kitchen — These clients longed for a space that felt timeless and sophisticated, yet functioned with modern conveniences and technology. The lack of useful storage made the area difficult to navigate, exacerbated by the room's archway openings, angles, and window placement. As the clients could not add on structurally to the home due to the zero-lot line nature, they wanted a space that could accommodate intimate and purposeful entertaining with family and friends. Design Elements • Incorporation of antique furniture with soft oval silhouettes and natural stone create a more balanced, traditional space while linen draperies and natural-woven shades keep the aesthetics softer. • Honed marble and wood replace stainless steel to warm the space; neutral colors form the backdrop for bold black and white diamond-patterned checkerboard floors. • Integrated appliances and custom millwork, designed to conceal a working pantry, and blend seamlessly into a pair of Tudor-inspired hutches. • An oversized plastered hood situated between two windows creates symmetry along the range wall and allows more natural light. • A matte black La Cornue French range is flanked by a pair of bespoke inset cabinets that resemble furniture, adding to the kitchen's timeless appeal. • Repeated diamond accents unify the adjacent spaces, with the brass grille inserts and muntins of the wet bar cabinets adding dimension and interest. • The center island expands to accommodate additional workspace and seating.
