"e silver grain and wood grain are held together with forged brackets," he says, creating a tactile sculpture-like art form that invites exploration and awe. "I want it to have gravity and a sense of space, to have a sense of the elements, to feel raw and yet very clean and organic." For Gray, e Great Western Art Show offers much more than just the opportunity to showcase his work. He values the "collection of cra, design, and art" the show represents and enjoys the conversation about art's role in our lives. "I love the nostalgia Western Art Week embodies," he remarks. Janice Bogy, a long-term fixture at e Great Western Art Show, has carved a distinctive path as a scratchboard artist, but her journey to this remarkable art form comes with an unexpected twist. Before embracing visual art, she had a long and successful career as a classical harpist in the Washington, D.C., area. "Music is a wonderful expression of my soul," Bogy shares. However, due to arthritis, she was led to find a new passion in scratchboard art aer decades of playing professionally. "Music is a wonderful expression of my soul," yet as soon as the harp strings are plucked, the sound slowly disappears, leaving the listener with just a memory. Bogy gravitates toward animals in her work, focusing on capturing each individual's distinctive markings. "I've loved criers all of my life," says Bogy. "Ever since I was a lile girl, it has always been animals." Painting and drawing now allow her to translate her vision into a lasting tribute to beauty and emotion. e Great Western Art Show is a testament to Western creativity 's enduring spirit, where tradition and innovation collide. From Chuck Fulcher's bold vision to the diverse talents of artists like Gray Emery Grove and Janice Bogy, the event offers a rare opportunity to connect with the makers behind the masterpieces. Whether drawn to the tactile beauty of handcraed works, the evocative nostalgia of Western imagery, or the stories woven into every piece, visitors leave with more than just art—they carry with them a deeper appreciation for the boundless frontier of human expression. Pollo Loco, Montana's Cowboy Western Vocal Group, delights audiences at the Montana ExpoPark each year with their unique blend of classic and original music combined with just the right touch of home-spun humor.
