THIRD PLACE / POWDER ROOM
Paradise Found — For the powder room in this
newly constructed home, the walls needed to be
spectacular and work with the permanent elements
of the room. The client desired a beautiful, functional
powder room to wow guests, with natural filtered
light through the window to provide privacy. The
objective was to design a grand, fascinating
space that would sweep guests into a luxurious
getaway and to allow future changes to the walls
without overhauling the space.
Design Challenges
• Communicate with trades hired by the builder,
without direct contact. Despite leaving the
drawings onsite and notating the sconce
locations, the electrical feeds were placed
incorrectly. The sconces were moved to the
proper location.
• Sequencing was a challenge, since a custom
cabinetmaker built the vanity and we needed to
ensure that the plumbing was in the correct
location for the vanity.
Design Solutions:
• The operable window treatment allows filtered
natural light to enter an otherwise dark room,
with the transom open to reflect light off the
white ceiling.
Special Features:
• The mural wallcovering wraps around the room
to create an immersive experience. A custom-
designed vanity adds timeless elegance.
• Specialty painted gold accents on the doors
and drawers of the vanity.
• A custom-designed backsplash with counter-
top material.
