The machine is installed in the de - partment's "Discovery Space," a new suite of teaching laboratories. "We were impressed with the way the Gamlen Tablet Press could simulate a number of conditions that real tablet production involves, without requiring high volumes," said Daryl Wil liams, director of Discovery Space. New CDMO combines DSM, Patheon, and Banner DURHAM, NC—DPx Holdings, a joint venture of JLL Partners and Royal DSM, launched a contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) that com- bines the products and technologies of DSM Pharmaceutical Products, Patheon, and Banner Life Sciences. The new company, with headquar- ters in Durham, NC, operates from 24 locations across North America, Europe, Latin America, and Australia and employs more than 8,000 peo- ple. FMC to divide in two PHILADELPHIA, PA—FMC plans to separate into two independent companies. BASF joint venture begins manufacturing bio-based succinic acid LUDWIGSHAFEN, Germany— Succincity, a joint venture of Corbion Purac and BASF dedicated to the manufacture and commercial- ization of bio-based succinic acid, has started its first commercial pro- duction facility. The plant, located at Corbion Purac's site in Montmeló, Spain, has an annual capacity of 10,000 metric tons. Succinic acid is used as a dietary supplement and in bio-polymers, coatings, and life-sci- ence products. PSL opens office in Australia LIVERPOOL, UK—PSL, which supplies filtration, drying, and con- tainment equipment, opened an office in West Perth, Australia, to serve the Asia Pacific region, exclud- ing India. Pierre Landais will lead it. The UK-based company also has offices in the USA, Europe, Japan, and India. Almac adds commercial blister line in Pennsylvania, expands in Asia AUDUBON, PA—Almac Group, based in Craigavon, UK, added a Klockner EAS blister line to its facil- ity here. The line, intended for pro- jects that require low-volume runs to evaluate different packaging material combinations, can produce a range of blister formats in thermo- and cold- form materials. The company oper- ates two sites in Pennsylvania and also offers commercial-scale blister- ing, bottling, walleting, and other packaging capabilities.
