Retired Jerseys Dave AndersonA two-time all-Metro Conference first-teamer, Dave Anderson submitted one of the most impressive season’s in U of M history in 1981, hitting .395 with team-highs in home runs (14) and RBI (61) as the Tigers went 48-11-1. It was the culmination of a meteoric two-year stint at the U of M that ended with Anderson getting drafted 22nd overall in the 1981 MLB draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers. He would go on to enjoy 10 successful seasons in the big leagues. Anderson hit .396 in his Memphis career, second all-time in the modern era only to Mark Little. Over his two years with the Blue and Gray, the Tigers went an incredible 52-5 at home, including a near- perfect 32-1 stretch in 1981. 2011 Memphis Baseball Experience • Page 40
