4 Grawn Hall Grawn Hall is CMU's oldest building. Opening in April 1915 at a cost of just $100,000, the structure initially housed the university's science and agriculture programs. It was named for Charles T. Grawn, the fi rst CMU executive to refer to himself as the university's president. Although it was nearly destroyed by fi re on two occasions, Grawn Hall did not undergo its fi rst extensive renovation until 1965, when the College of Business fi rst moved into the facility. Grawn was expanded in 1989 with the addition of the 20,000-square-foot Applied Business Studies Complex. Improvements made during the past year have updated the building's infrastructure and paved the way for much-needed upgrades currently in the planning stages.
