Established in January 2004, Mambo Trading got its start in Torrance, Calif. Manager Mike Herman saw a demand for copi- er supplies and thought there was an opportunity to get into the business. "It was so robust and a lot of people were using a lot of ink," Herman said.
In the first three years, Mambo Trading grew its annual revenue from zero to approxi- mately $4.5 million. Mambo Trading offers a com- plete line of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and gener- ic supplies for copiers, fax machines and printers at a low price for all major brands. The brands include Canon, Brother, Hewlett Packard, Konica Minolta, Kyocera Mita, Toshiba, Sharp and Xerox. Because of the intense competition, Herman said he likes to save his customers money and at the same time give them good service. When it comes to finding discontinued products, Mambo Trading looks to its sources of supplies. Once the products have been located, depending on the cus- tomer's preference, they can be shipped by two different methods. A blind ship- ment, which is when the products are shipped directly from the vendor to the cus- tomer, or it can be shipped to Mambo Trading's warehouse, and then shipped to the customer. "Most of the time, we do a blind shipment. Basically it is more effective that we
have our vendors ship direct to our customers," Herman said. That way it saves time and reduces shipping costs. Mambo Trading prides itself as one of the leading vendors in toner, fax and printer equipment and supplies.
