here is nothing wrong with chasing dreams–you
might catch one," reads the calligraphic black words
elegantly inscribed upon a white marble paperweight,
which has found a home on my desk since 1977. For six years
now our Carson-Newman family has dreamed of the day when
we would journey from "surviving to thriving." Well, good news:
We're thriving!
Our enrollment this Fall establishes an all-time record high
of 2,362 students! Next year's goal is 2,470 students! C-N has
been named an "Up and Coming" university, a "Great School
at a Great Price" and a "College of Distinction." Washington
Monthly recently named C-N the "7th Best Baccalaureate
College in America!" Eagles are soaring!
A new million-dollar learning commons in the library has
attracted students in droves. Additions and renovations are
everywhere. New programs are planned. A 5-year strategic plan
called Vision 2020 will soon be unveiled. Excitement is in the
air! Dreams are coming true!
e best is yet to be,
