Overnight Stay: Thermal Colossae Hotel or similar Day 11 Pamukkale to Kusadasi (FB) Leaving the thermal springs behind we drive westward to Selcuk, then onto Ephesus, the world's best preserved ancient city that once housed the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World completed in 550 B.C. This was a city with a population of over half a million people then, and only 15% has been excavated to date. Continue onto the coastal town of Kusadasi. Enjoy the lively town at leisure tonight. Two Night Stay: Grand Onder Hotel Day 12 Kusadasi at Leisure (FB) Today is a chance to re–charge your batteries, enjoy the markets, do some washing or stroll on the beach. Perhaps take a boat trip to the nearby Greek Island of Samos. Kusadasi also has excellent seafood restaurants as a suggestion for dinner tonight. Day 13 Pergamon–Troy–Canakkale (FB,D) Heading north we visit the Acropolis which contains the ruins of Pergamon's 200,000 volume library whose contents were given to Cleopatra by Mark Antony. Then continue to the legendary site of the Trojan Wars, with a tour by a local guide and a replica of the famous Trojan Horse. Tonight we stay in the coastal town of Canakkale across the Dardenelles Strait from Gallipoli. Overnight Stay: Kolin Hotel Day 14 Gallipoli to Istanbul (FB,D) Crossing the straits of the Dardenelles we get a true view of the task taken on by the ANZAC's, then tour the sites of this famous WW1 attempted invasion. Our local guide will take us to ANZAC Cove, scene of the dawn service on April 25 every year, then to the Australian War Memorial at Lone Pine, then the NZ Memorial at Chunuk Bair, as well as stops to view trenches and the treacherous cliffs. After this chilling reminder of the courage of our fallen soldiers, we journey back to Istanbul for a fi nal night farewell dinner in a local restaurant with traditional belly dancers.
