NORTH CAROLINA CENTRAL UNIVERSITY DEAN OF THE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS North Carolina Central University (NCCU) invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the School of Business. The NCCU School of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International) and the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and programs (ACBSP). As the leader of the school of Business, the Dean provides support for the faculty of the School by creating a positive environment for teaching, scholarship, research, and learning as well as outreach services consistent with the University's policies, mission, goals, and objectives. The NCCU School of Business offers programs of study leading to the Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business Administration (with concentrations in Finance, General Business, Management, and Marketing), Computer Information Systems, Hospitality and Tourism Administration, and a Minor in Business. The School offers the MBA and joint degree programs with other disciplines on campus, including the MBA/JD (with the School of Law) and the MBA/MIS (with the School of Library and Information Sciences). Duties and Responsibilities: The Dean reports to the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and is responsible for the quality of academic programs and for managing the fiscal and human resources, and the physical facilities. The Dean is expected to build partnerships with alumni, the business and professional community, and to obtain significant funding to support both new and existing programs. The successful applicant should be prepared to demonstrate the leadership ability to distinguish the School of Business as a premier learning center that is consistent with the vision of North Carolina Central University. It is the explicit charge of the Dean of the School of Business to build on the successful reputation of the University by further strengthening the individual programs and by enhancing interdisciplinary collaboration and integration among appropriate disciplines of the University. The Dean participates in the development of University-wide policy as a member of the Council of Deans, the Academic Planning Council, the Chancellor's Cabinet, and other appropriate governing bodies. Required Qualifications: Earned doctorate in a discipline appropriate for tenure in the school and substantial record that qualifies the candidate for appointment as a full professor. Candidates must have evidence of the ability to design and implement processes that promote and support excellence in teaching/curricular issues, scholarship/research, and service. The applicant must possess strong interpersonal skills and a record of establishing ties with the business community, alumni, faculty, staff, and students. Detailed knowledge and experience with AACSB accreditation process are required. Preferred Qualifications: Higher education experience in budgeting, strategic planning, program evaluation, and assessment of student learning is strongly preferred. In addition, experience in the development of undergraduate and graduate programs is preferred. Candidate should show evidence of procuring major funding via grants and funding-raising. Demonstrated commitment to cultural diversity and global education and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented leadership setting are expected.
