Dean, Barney School of Business The University of Hartford invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the Barney School of Business. Comprising seven distinctive schools and colleges, the University of Hartford is a dynamic, comprehensive, independent institution known for the diversity, breadth, and imagination of its academic programs. The University of Hartford is located on a scenic 320- acre wooded main campus in suburban West Hartford, just min- utes away from the city of Hartford. Reporting to the Provost, the Dean is the chief academic and administrative officer of the School. The Barney School of Business enrolls more than 500 full-time undergraduate students, more than 100 full-time graduate students, and approximately 400 part-time students. The School has 37 full- time faculty members and is organized into three departments: Accounting and Taxation; Economics, Finance and Insurance; and Management and Marketing. The successful candidate will have significant administrative experience and demonstrate leadership qualities as evidenced by creating and implementing vision within complex organizations. The Dean will work closely with faculty and staff to enhance the 60 BizEd JULY/AUGUST 2004 School's distinctiveness and visibility; cultivate donor relationships in order to increase gifts and endowment as well as develop other revenue sources; build and enhance relationships with the business community; attract and motivate faculty, staff, and students; pro- vide energetic and flexible leadership; and develop program inno- vations.
