During the past few years, reliance on a contingent workforce has become more paramount for organisations: the flexibility of contingent labour provides organisations with a workable solution for resourcing talent in this unpredictable market. But what does the shape of today's contingent workforce look like in the face of increased legislation, the swaying economic tide, and with different models in different geographies?
A contingent workforce has long been utilised to enable organisations to quickly adapt to changing market conditions,
but for some, it has become far more. A contingent workforce is not being utilised as a standalone entity: Organisations are integrating temporary labour into their overall talent resourcing strategies.
But what defines a contingent workforce?
Across the globe, there are many guises as to what a contingent workforce looks like, which is mainly determined by local interpretations, local cultural norms, and local legislation.
