Classified Advertising " CUSTOMER TIP SHEETS Problem. Powder coating conveyors often operate in harsh environments that include moisture from wash systems and high temperatures from ovens. Unfortunately, general purpose lubricants are often inadequate for conveyor chains operating in these conditions. When exposed to moisture and tempera- ture, some conveyor lubricants can form build up and sludge, similar to that shown in the photo, which increase parts con- tamination and rejection rates. The effects of this excessive build up are cumulative, preventing the conveyor chain from receiving proper lubrication and creating housekeeping issues, which increase costs and reduce production efficien- cy. Solution. It is always best to match conveyor lubricants and application methods with the environment that the conveyor operates in. Additionally, some coaters will benefit from incorporating conveyor brush cleaners in their systems to further reduce parts contamination and rejection rates.
