Primary School In Kindergarten through Grade 5, children become ambitious, confident and inspired learners. Approaching learning with a clear focus on children's progression, teachers follow the English National Curriculum to develop stimulating lessons that promote the development of children's knowledge, understanding and skills. We set high expectations, planning higher level work for those whose attainment is significantly above the expected standard and delivering lessons to children who need additional support. Topic-based learning continues with the International Primary Curriculum, structured into three mileposts, in which children aim to achieve specific learning goals, catered to their ages in all core subjects. Children in Grade 4 and 5 also study Entrepreneurship. At BISC South Loop, we believe an entrepreneurial mindset increases children's engagement in school as well as their success. As such, children explore the world of business and develop enterprise skills by participating in a range of entrepreneurial activities. Curriculum Early Years Based on principles of learning through play, our curriculum for children ages 3 to 5 (Preschool and Junior Kindergarten) sparks the habits necessary for successful, lifelong learning. Children enjoy topic- based learning through the International Primary Curriculum, which is creative, engaging and employs specific goals for learning across subjects as well as for personal development. With learning topics like animals, chocolate and the Olympics, children are enthusiastic and able to make connections to their own lives. Through a variety of activities, children play, explore, create and think critically in seven areas of learning and development: Communication & Language; Physical Development; Personal, Social & Emotional Development; Literacy; Math; Understanding the World; and Expressive Arts & Design. Children form a strong foundation for future progress through school and life by learning new skills, acquiring new knowledge and demonstrating their understanding.
