Designer Davida Rodriguez created an
open-concept kitchen for this mid-century
modern home by removing a wall next to
the staircase, which opened up the space
to the living room and provided an easy
flow through the kitchen to the back-
yard. Double-sided, frosted-glass cabinets
suspended from the ceiling between the
two rooms add additional storage while still
allowing light to penetrate. By redesigning
an existing full bathroom into a half bath,
Rodriguez gained a pantry and microwave
area just outside the main footprint. A two-
tiered island allowed for inclusion of this
must-have feature while partially concealing
the food prep area.
Waterfall countertops depict a kitchen
more reminiscent of art than function.
A glass tile backsplash exudes a clean,
reflective quality in the finished space, and
a splash of orange adds instant vibrancy
alongside the dark wood cabinets and
gleaming white countertops.
