A young, active mother of two with
a busy work schedule had finally
had enough of her outdated and
non functional kitchen, so she laid
down the law with her husband:
remodel or look for another house.
Because no real footprint modi-
fication could take place, the
designer turned to creativity, color,
and careful choices to save.
To help the budget, the home-
owner helped with demolition. The
designer used three cabinet colors,
but she chose one countertop to
unify the space. She installed the
cabinetry all the way to the ceiling,
added a custom hutch, inserted a
microwave drawer in the peninsula,
and used a counter-depth refrig-
erator for a built-in look. Open wine
storage, can lights, and under-
cabinet lighting add custom appeal.
