The existing main floor of this home
featured a kitchen that felt closed and
inefficient, so the designer reconfigured
the space to remove a wall and open
things up. This also allows the kitchen to
feel larger and more functional. Two
eating areas provide casual and formal
dining options, while three cabinet tones
create a neutral yet striking look.
Doubling the size of the space, the
designer incorporated drawers at the
end of the kitchen for device storage and
charging, and added an instant hot water
dispenser, a 4-foot-wide galley sink, and
LED recessed downlights.
Green features include on-site re-
cycling during construction, soy-based
adhesives, low-VOC finishes, MDF
cabinet doors, zero-VOC wall paint,
LED lights, Energy Star appliances, a
WaterSense-labeled faucet, and floor
tile with recycled content.
