"Demand for par ticipation is high," explains Uppman, "so we can select the ver y best of the best." A quick search of YouTube shows just how popular EOCR has become: scores of attendees have posted videos of the event. "It's amazing how many video bloggers come to the Peninsula during Car Week specifically for this event," Uppman says. "But in addition, EOCR appeals to a wide demographic; peo- ple of all ages are intrigued. Over and over, you'll see a 5-year-old just staring at these cars in amazement." And it's just as much fun for the car owners who bring these rare birds here for display. "These guys all know each other, and love to check out each other's cars." Given the vast number of visitors that con- verge on the Peninsula during Car Week, the Cannery Row Company was mindful of what effect EOCR would have. "We gave a lot of thought to how to stage the best event with the least impact," Uppman says. "We work closely with the City of Monterey and police departments." For many, the highlight is when the participating cars fire up and exit the Row in a line up Prescott Street. "The sights and sounds of all those beautiful machines heading into the sunset is breathtaking," says Uppman. Exotics on Cannery Row takes place from 3-8pm, though the street is closed from 12:30 -10:10pm.
