On Sunday, the Rockford community came together for the second annual Casino Bash. Further details on the 2017 Rockford Alumni Reunion Weekend, which will be Oct. 6-8, will be available soon. UI Health Sciences Alumni Reception November 9, 2016 Held immediately on the heels of the November election, the UIC health science college deans invited suburban alumni to an all-health science alumni reception at the Chicago Marriott Naperville, Ill. The panel also included UI Hospital CEO Avijit Ghosh and was moderated by Robert Barish, MD, MBA (above), vice chancellor for health affairs. The discussion offered insights into the academic, research and clinical care delivery provided by UI Health and its health colleges while opening the conversation to questions from the audience about the future of health care in America. San Francisco Reception with CADA October 23, 2016 The College of Medicine held a joint UIC alumni reception in San Francisco, featuring department of neurology head Jeffrey Loeb, MD, PhD, and College of Architecture, Design, and Arts Dean Steve Everett. They presented their collaborative research on the interconnection of sound wave acoustics and brain wave patterns associated with epilepsy. The event, held at the San Francisco War Memorial and Performing Arts Center, integrated a visual and audio demonstration that showcased how partnerships between medicine and other disciplines can greatly advance discovery and patient care. Scholarship Reception March 27, 2017 Each spring, the College of Medicine brings together generous scholarship donors and talented medical student scholarship recipients for a celebration of medical education. At the 2017 celebration, alumni and faculty members were acknowledged for their commitment and support of student achievement. Executive Dean Dimitri T. Azar, MD, MBA, specifically recognized the gifts of Kathy and Steve Irwin, MD '77, with the naming of the G. Stephen and Kathleen Irwin Learning Center Auditorium, as well as classrooms named for Ruth A. Seeler, MD, Res '67, for her continued support to student scholarship; and the Gilbert and Diana Younger Family, provided by Terry Younger '83, MD '87 and Leila Younger '85, DDS '87.
