Phase three of the four-phase expansion has begun ahead of schedule. This phase includes purchasing and in- stalling additional powder production equipment for new processing lines in the recently completed expansion of the facility and upgrades to the original pro- cessing lines. With these additions, two- thirds of all the planned equipment in the new facility will have been installed. The new equipment is expected to be up and running in early 2019. Vogel Paint, founded in 1926, is a manufacturer of high-quality paints and coatings for the architectural, heavy-duty protective, industrial, traf- fic, and powder coating markets. The Peridium Powder Coatings technolo- gies include TGIC polyester, hybrid, urethane, and epoxy. CCAI hosts first Women in Finishing reception TAYLOR MILL, Ky.—The Chemi- cal Coaters Association International (CCAI) held its inaugural Women in Finishing reception at its FABTECH FINISHING Pavilion last November. With more than 40 women from ex- hibiting companies in attendance, the reception surpassed expectations. As a result of the enthusiastic response, C C A I h o p e s t o o f f e r a d d i t i o n a l Women in Finishing events at future meetings to facilitate more involve- ment from women in the finishing in- dustry at both the national and chap- ter levels. CCAI is a technical and pro- fessional organization that provides information and training on surface coating technologies. ICST Symposium announces call for papers FORT MILL, S.C.—A call for papers for oral and poster sessions at the 2018 International Coating Science and Technology (ICST) Symposium has been posted. Organized by the Interna- tional Society of Coating Science & Technology (ISCST) and facilitated by the Association of International Metal- lizers, Coaters, and Laminators (AIM- CAL), the 19th ICST Symposium will be held September 16-19 at the Hilton Long Beach in Long Beach, Calif. The biennial meeting serves as the world's premier forum for presenting advances in the mechanisms and process technologies for applying wet coated layers. Speakers are from both industry and academia. In addition to discussions of traditional coating and drying processes, the agenda presents emerging applications such as photo- voltaics, fuel and battery cells, biomed- ical applications, and electronic dis- plays. There's also a daily tabletop exhi- bition, networking receptions, and an award presentation. Submission forms can be found on the ISCST (www.iscst.com) and AIMCAL (www.aimcal.org) websites. ISCST is a technical society formed by an interna- tional group of academic and industrial scientists and engineers to foster funda- mental understanding of liquid-ap- plied coating processes. AIMCAL rep- resents converters of metallized, coated, and laminated flexible substrates and their suppliers. CCAI chapters donate to local charities TAYLOR MILL, Ky.—In December, in the spirit of the season of giving, the Chemical Coaters Association Interna- tional (CCAI) announced that several of its chapters held toy drives to benefit charitable organizations. These chap- ters, including the Southern California Chapter, the Central States Chapter, the Wisconsin Chapter, the Twin Cities Chapter, and the Central States Chap- ter, collected and contributed more than 1,500 toys and $1,300 to Toys for Tots and Kids 2 Kids charities. Each chapter organized a special event to bring associ- ation members together to support the organizations in need.
